Add your first vehicle

You create new vehicles in the app with a step-by-step wizard: on the home screen, tap the + button in the bottom right.
:::tip Demo vehicle On your first login, RideBase has already created a demo vehicle for you, so you can try out all the features. You can delete it at any time via the vehicle settings. :::
Step 1: Basic data
- Pick a name (Ride Name, e.g. "My BMW" or "City bike")
- Optionally enter the License Plate
- Choose the vehicle type — e.g. car, motorcycle, bicycle, truck, van, tractor, trailer, boat, or other. You'll find details on all types under Vehicle types & catalog.
Step 2: Model selection
Choose the make and model from the RideBase catalog. For all types except bicycles you can switch between two modes at the top:
- Selection — choose make and model from lists
- KBA Codes — for vehicles registered in Germany: enter the HSN (manufacturer key) and TSN (type key) and tap Search vehicle. You'll find the KBA codes in your vehicle registration document under 2.1 and 2.2.

Step 3: Fuel types / drive
- For motorized vehicles, you choose the fuel types: Gasoline, Diesel, Electric, CNG (Natural Gas), or LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) — multiple selections are possible, e.g. for hybrid vehicles. For diesel vehicles you also specify whether they use AdBlue.
- For bicycles, you instead answer the question of whether it's an eBike.
- For types without a drive (e.g. trailers), this step is skipped.
Step 4: Odometer
Choose which kind of counter your vehicle has:

| Operating hours counter | Vehicles that count operating hours (tractors, construction machinery) |
| No counter | Total kilometers are calculated from the sum of all tracked trips |
This setting cannot be changed later! Learn more under Odometer reading & counter types.
Step 5: Details
- Acquisition date and Mileage at acquisition (or operating hours reading)
- Optional Notes
- Condition at acquisition: New or Used
- Acquisition type: Purchased, Leasing, or Company car
Step 6: Leasing details (leasing only)
If you chose Leasing, an additional step follows with Leasing Provider, Contract Number, Lease Start, Duration, Monthly rate, and Annual kilometer limit.
After that, the vehicle is saved and appears on your home screen.
More vehicles and editing
- For additional vehicles, simply repeat the steps via the + button.
- You can edit or delete a vehicle later via its settings — see The vehicle screen.
- You can also create new vehicles in the web portal: in the "Garage" section via "Fahrzeug hinzufügen" (add vehicle).
