External data sources
Available in: ๐ฑ App
RideBase can automatically import activities from Strava, Apple Health (iOS), and Health Connect (Android) as trips โ handy for bikes and anything you're already tracking anyway.
You'll find all data sources under Profile โ Data Sources. There you can also see the connection status of each source.
Imported activities first appear under Unassigned Activities (on the dashboard) and are assigned to a vehicle there โ via Assign or automatically through automations. Only assigned trips count toward the vehicle's odometer reading and logbook.
Connecting Stravaโ
- Profile โ Data Sources โ Strava ("Synchronize activities")
- Tap the Connect with Strava button โ your browser opens for authorization
- Confirm the access and return to the app
After that, new Strava activities are imported automatically โ even without opening the app; you get a push notification for new trips. In the Strava section you can also:
- Import Activities โ choose which activity types are imported (Cycling, Virtual Ride, Running, Walking, Hiking, Swimming, Alpine Ski, Cross-country Skiing)
- Sync Now โ import retroactively (7/30/90/180 days or a custom number; at most 200 activities)
- Disconnect โ trips that were already imported are kept
Mapping Strava bikesโ
Under Link Gear you connect your Strava bikes with your RideBase vehicles. Tap a bike and pick the matching vehicle. Activities with that bike are then automatically assigned to the right vehicle โ without the detour through "Unassigned Activities".
Apple Health (iOS)โ
- Profile โ Data Sources โ Apple Health ("Import cycling workouts")
- Tap Continue and allow access in iOS
RideBase only reads: Cycling Workouts (start/end time), the Distance Covered, and the GPS Route. No data is written to Apple Health. Your workouts from the last 30 days are imported automatically when you open the app; with Sync Now you fetch older workouts.
Health Connect (Android)โ
- Profile โ Data Sources โ Health Connect ("Import activities")
- If needed: Install Health Connect (from the Play Store), then Continue and allow access
What gets imported are activities (cycling, running, walking, hiking, and more) with Distance, Calories, and Step Count โ read-only, no data is written to Health Connect. Here too: automatic import of the last 30 days when the app opens, plus Sync Now for older activities.
How do I recognize imported trips?โ
Every trip carries a source icon with the name of the source: Strava, Apple Health, Health Connect โ or RideDetect and Manual for the other trips. Read more in the logbook overview.
:::warning Editing imported trips If you change an imported trip in RideBase, your changes may be overwritten by the next import โ the app warns you accordingly. :::
Duplicatesโ
If you track the same trip twice (e.g. Strava and RideDetect at the same time), RideBase detects this and marks the trip as a Possible duplicate under Unassigned Activities. You can then Mark as duplicate or Ignore it.
Under Profile โ Data Sources โ Import Settings there's the Automatically ignore duplicates toggle for this ("Automatically hide detected duplicates during import") โ otherwise they're shown to you for manual review.
