Recording a trip manually

Besides the automatic recording via RideDetect, you can enter trips by hand at any time — for example after the fact, or for trips without your phone.
Creating a new trip (app)
- Open the vehicle and tap Add Entry (+)
- Choose Trip ("Record new trip")
- Fill in the New Trip screen (see the fields below)
- Tap the checkmark (Save)
The fields at a glance

:::info Odometer readings or distance? Enter either Start km and End km or just the Distance — you don't need both. For vehicles with an operating hours counter, you record Hours and Minutes or Start h/End h instead. :::
Editing a trip
- Open the trip in the Trips tab of your vehicle
- Tap Edit
- Change the fields in the Edit Trip screen and save
Via the swap icon (Change vehicle) you can assign the trip to a different vehicle.
:::warning Imported trips For trips from Strava, Apple Health, or Health Connect, the app shows the note "Imported trip: changes may be overwritten by the next import." :::
Deleting a trip
Open the trip → Edit → trash icon (Delete) and confirm with Delete. Deleting cannot be undone. For rig trips, the app asks whether you want to remove just the assignment or delete the trip for all vehicles.
In the web portal
In the web portal (web.ridebase.app), open your vehicle in the "Garage" (garage) and choose "Fahrt" (trip; "Neue Fahrt erfassen" – record a new trip) when adding an entry. The "Fahrt erfassen" (record trip) dialog offers the same fields as the app (including trip purpose, additional vehicles, note, tags, and attachments). You can also open, edit, and delete existing trips there.
Starting a trip via NFC tag
Available in: 📱 App
You can write an NFC tag (e.g. a sticker in your car or on your handlebars) so that scanning it directly starts a recording for the right vehicle:
- Open the vehicle's settings and tap Write NFC tag ("Start a trip for this vehicle via NFC")
- Optionally set a Trip Purpose and Category that every trip started this way gets automatically
- Tap Write (or Without selection) and hold your phone against the NFC tag
If you scan the tag later, RideBase opens and starts recording a trip for the stored vehicle — on the iPhone, a banner appears first for you to tap. Prerequisite: RideDetect is set up.
