Rig trips

Available in: πŸ“± App Β· πŸ’» Web portal

A trip can be assigned to several vehicles at the same time β€” the typical case: a rig made up of a towing vehicle and a trailer. The trip then counts for both vehicles: for the odometer reading, the logbook, component wear, and the service plans.

Assigning additional vehicles

When creating or editing a trip, you'll find the Additional vehicles (e.g. trailer) section below the vehicle selection:

  1. Tap Additional vehicle
  2. Pick the additional vehicle from the list (searchable if you have many vehicles)
  3. The selected vehicles appear as chips β€” to remove one, simply deselect it
  4. Save β€” done

The first vehicle remains the trip's main vehicle; the journey data (route, distance, purpose, notes) exists only once and applies to all vehicles involved.

When assigning an unassigned RideDetect trip, you can also add additional vehicles as chips directly on the trip card and confirm with Assign. In the web portal, the same works in the trip dialog and under "Neue AktivitΓ€ten" (new activities).

Vehicle-specific odometer readings

Each vehicle involved keeps its own odometer readings for the trip β€” after all, the trailer may have a different odometer reading than the towing vehicle (or none at all). If you open the trip from the trip list of a specific vehicle, the km fields always refer to exactly that vehicle.

Remembered combination

RideBase remembers the last rig combination used for each towing vehicle and automatically suggests it next time β€” you can deselect the suggestion at any time.

For automatically recorded RideDetect trips: if RideDetect saves a trip to a vehicle automatically, the remembered combination of that towing vehicle is applied as well, unless you've made your own selection.

Deleting a rig trip

When deleting a trip that's assigned to several vehicles, the app asks:

  • Remove assignment only β€” removes the trip only from the current vehicle; it remains on the other vehicles
  • Delete for all β€” permanently deletes the trip for all vehicles

Rig trips in the export

In the logbook export, a rig trip appears once per selected vehicle β€” each time with the odometer readings of that vehicle.
