Components & wear parts
Available in: ๐ฑ App ยท ๐ป Web portal
Components are wear parts like tires, chains, or brake pads. They accumulate mileage while mounted โ so you can always see how much of their expected service life has been used, even if you put a part into storage in between.
The Components tabโ
Your vehicle's Components tab has three areas:
| Area | Contents |
|---|---|
| Mounted | Components currently installed on the vehicle |
| Storage | Components you own but that aren't currently installed |
| Archive | Retired components โ no longer available for mounting |
The web portal additionally shows a "Verlauf" (history) of all mounts and dismounts. Mounts also appear as entries in the Timeline (Component mounted / Component dismounted).
Creating a componentโ
- Components tab โ Storage area โ create a new component
- Choose a type โ if the right one is missing, use Create type to add a new component type (name e.g. "Tire, chain, brake pads", optionally with a recommended replacement interval)
- Give it a name, e.g. "Front tire Continental"
- Optional: previous kilometers or previous operating hours โ distance already covered, if the part was bought used
- Optional: expected service life โ after how many km (or hours) the part is usually replaced
- Optional: purchase date; in the app you also pick the compatible vehicles, in the web portal you can add "Notizen" (notes) (e.g. DOT number, condition)
New components initially land in Storage.
Mounting and dismountingโ
- Mounting: Pick the component in Storage โ Mount โ enter the date, time, and odometer reading at mounting.
- Dismounting: On a mounted component, choose Dismount โ enter the odometer reading at dismounting. The component moves back to Storage, and its accumulated mileage is kept.
If you want to reuse a part on another vehicle, dismount it and mount it there โ in the app, the vehicle must be marked as compatible on the component for this.
Retired parts go to the Archive; from there you can bring them back with Move to Storage if needed.
Keeping an eye on wearโ
While a component is mounted, its mileage grows with every recorded trip and every odometer reading of the vehicle. If you've set an expected service life, RideBase shows the progress as a colored bar โ so you can see at a glance which parts are approaching replacement.
:::info Rig trips On trips with multiple vehicles, the distance counts for all linked vehicles โ components on a towed trailer accumulate mileage as well. :::
