Reviewing and editing detected trips
Available in: ๐ฑ App
Detected trips are saved automatically when the trip ends โ you don't have to confirm anything. You can review and edit them in three places: during the trip, straight from the notification, and afterwards under Unassigned Activities.
During the trip: the live viewโ
While recording, the dashboard shows a red banner with distance and driving time. Tap it (or the notification "RideDetect is recording your trip.") to open the Trip in progress view. There you can already set while on the road:
- Vehicle (plus Additional vehicle for a rig)
- Purpose, Odometer reading at start, Note, Tags
All of this also applies if the trip later ends automatically ("Will also be applied when the trip ends automatically.").
Via Stop recording you open the End recording menu with four options:
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| End and save | The trip is saved immediately |
| End and delete | The recording is discarded immediately โ the next trip is detected normally |
| Ignore this trip | Nothing is saved โ the next trip is detected normally |
| Ignore today's trips | RideDetect is disabled until tomorrow |
:::tip Shortly before the automatic end If you're stopped for a while (e.g. at a ferry or a barrier), the app checks in with "Trip will end shortly โ tap to pause". If you tap the notification, the trip is paused instead of ended โ as soon as you drive on, it continues seamlessly with "Trip resumed". :::
After the trip ends: the notificationโ
After the automatic end, "Trip saved" appears with the distance. Tap it:
- If the trip was assigned to a vehicle, the trip opens directly.
- If it remained unassigned, the Unassigned Activities list opens with the new trip highlighted.
Without an internet connection, the trip is stored locally ("Trip saved โฆ will be synced the next time the app is opened") and uploaded the next time the app starts.
Unassigned trips: "Unassigned Activities"โ
If no vehicle could be determined (why?), you'll find the trip under Unassigned Activities โ reachable via the card of the same name on the dashboard ("โฆ await assignment").
Opening a single trip: You see the route (if GPS data is available), start time, end time, duration, average speed, and Auto-detected as the source. If needed, add a Note and Tags, pick the vehicle (for rigs also Additional vehicles), and tap Assign ride. With Ignore you permanently hide the trip instead.
Several trips at once: In the list you can select multiple trips (Select all) and assign them to a vehicle or ignore them together. With Apply rules you run your automations over all waiting trips.
Duplicates: If a detected trip is similar in time and distance to an existing one (e.g. from an import), the app marks it as a Possible duplicate. You decide: assign it, or Mark as duplicate โ it then disappears from the list and the statistics.
Editing afterwardsโ
Assigned trips are regular logbook entries โ you change purpose, notes, and more as usual in the logbook.
