Vehicle status & seasonal break

Available in: πŸ“± App Β· πŸ’» Web portal

A motorcycle with seasonal plates, a convertible hibernating over winter, a deregistered second car: vehicles that aren't being driven right now can be set to inactive in RideBase β€” they stay quiet without any data getting lost.

Changing the status

  1. Open the vehicle and go to the vehicle settings via the gear icon
  2. Tap "Status"
  3. Turn off the "Vehicle active" switch to deactivate the vehicle permanently β€” or set up a seasonal break (see below)
  4. Save β€” at the top you'll immediately see "Currently active" or "Currently inactive"

The status can only be changed on your own vehicles, not on vehicles shared with you.

Setting up a seasonal break

For vehicles that sit idle during the same period every year (e.g. a motorcycle with seasonal plates):

  1. In the status dialog, enable "Seasonal inactivity" ("e.g. for seasonal license plates or winter break")
  2. For "Inactive from" and "Inactive until", pick a day and month each
  3. Save

RideBase shows you the period for review: "The vehicle is inactive each year from … to …." The break repeats automatically every year β€” after the season ends, the vehicle becomes active again on its own, nothing for you to switch back.

:::tip Example: motorcycle (seasonal plates April–October) Enable "Seasonal inactivity", set "Inactive from" to November 1 and "Inactive until" to March 31 β€” from November through March the motorcycle is automatically inactive, from April on it's active again. :::

What happens with an inactive vehicle?

  • No notifications: no reminders are sent for inactive vehicles β€” neither odometer reminders nor due service plans. The status dialog shows this right away: "Notifications paused".
  • Marking: on the home screen the vehicle gets an inactive badge ("Vehicle is inactive").
  • Hideable: via the vehicle filter on the home screen you can hide "Inactive vehicles" to keep your garage tidy.

All data β€” trips, entries, statistics β€” is fully retained. You can reactivate the vehicle at any time and keep using it as usual.

In the web portal

In the web portal you'll also find the status under Fahrzeug bearbeiten β†’ "Status" (edit vehicle β†’ status): with the "Fahrzeug ist aktiv" (vehicle is active) switch ("Stillgelegte Fahrzeuge erhalten keine Service-Erinnerungen und erscheinen ausgegraut" β€” deactivated vehicles receive no service reminders and appear grayed out) and the "Saisonfahrzeug" (seasonal vehicle) option with the "Stillgelegt ab" (inactive from) and "Wieder aktiv ab" (active again from) fields.
