Vehicle types, catalog & KBA search

When adding a vehicle, you first pick the vehicle type and then select make, model, and series from the RideBase catalog. For vehicles registered in Germany it's even faster with the KBA type numbers.
Vehicle types
RideBase supports far more than just cars:

| Trailer | no fuel step |
| Boat | with fuel entries and odometer reading |
| Coffee Machine | yes, really — just counter readings, service, and documents |
| Shoes | tracks distances and service, no refueling |
| Other | for anything that doesn't fit the list |
The wizard adapts to the type: for bicycles, trailers, coffee machines, and shoes, the "Fuel Types" step is skipped, for example.
Choosing make & model from the catalog
In the "Model Selection" wizard step you pick, one after another:
- "Make / Manufacturer" — just start typing, the list filters as you write
- "Model"
- "Series (optional)" — here you'll see each series' production period and engine specs (e.g. "150 PS / 110 kW")
Each of the three lists has an "Other" option in case your vehicle isn't listed.
:::tip Your vehicle is missing from the catalog? Tap "Your Ride is not listed?" — in the "Vehicle not found?" dialog you can report manufacturer, model, and series to us, and we'll add them to the catalog. :::
KBA search via type numbers (HSN/TSN)
For vehicles registered in Germany you can skip the catalog search: in the "Model Selection" step, switch at the top from "Selection" to "KBA Codes" (not available for bicycles).
- Enter the "HSN" — the 4-digit manufacturer key
- Enter the "TSN" — the 3-digit type key
- Tap "Search vehicle"
- On success, "Vehicle found" appears with manufacturer, model, and series — tap "Next" to apply the selection
:::info Where do I find the KBA codes? The KBA codes are in the German vehicle registration document (Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil I): the HSN in field 2.1, the TSN in field 2.2. :::
If no vehicle is found, double-check the HSN/TSN or simply use the regular selection.
Tractors with technical data
The catalog also includes an extensive tractor database with manufacturers from John Deere to Kubota. Tractor models are listed with their production period (e.g. "1025R, 2013-2023"), so you can find exactly your machine. For the Tractor type, the wizard automatically suggests diesel and the operating hours counter — more under Counter type & odometer readings.
In the web portal
In the web portal you also add vehicles to your garage via "Fahrzeug hinzufügen" (add vehicle) — with the same steps, the same catalog selection ("Hersteller" (manufacturer), "Modell" (model), "Baureihe / Variante" (series/variant)) and the KBA search via "HSN"/"TSN".
